TCRP Scheduling Manual

Working in partnership with Dan Boyle & Associates, from 2007 to 2009 Phillip Boyle undertook a lead researcher role in developing an advanced industry scheduling manual, Controlling System Costs: Basic and Advanced Scheduling Manuals and Contemporary Issues in Transit Scheduling.

The manual was developed for Transportation Research Board as part of the Transport Cooperative Research Program (TCRP). It now serves as an industry reference guide, covering advanced scheduling techniques and issues. It provides in-depth coverage of contemporary scheduling issues, including use of proprietary computerised scheduling packages.

Phillip Boyle’s role on this project involved:

  • Developing an industry-wide survey of current scheduling trends and practices
  • Conducting extensive industry research and developing case studies
  • Writing and reviewing the manual.

A PDF of the manual can be downloaded from the Transportation Research Board website.
